Habitat / Ecology
|
Seasonally dry deciduous forest and xerophytic scrub. on calcareous rocks (limestone) and red sands. The most dry-adapted species. Occurring in rather open seasonally dry deciduous forest and xerophytic scrubland between 22 - 24° S. (500-800 mm rainfall and long dry season). alt 30-300 m. In Leroy 1982. the species can grow with 300 mm rainfall and a dry period of 8-9 months . |

Short plant (1-2 m high, with several short branches at 45°C arising directly from the base and sympodial growth. Caduc leaves, petiole absent or 1.5 mm long. Puberulous inflorescences and flowers in terminal position. Pedunculate fruit, 1.2-1.5 x 1.1-1.5 cm. Beans 1-1.2 x 0.8-0.9 cm (in Leroy 1961). |
