Others informations Gabrous shrub up to 1.5-1.8 m, deciduous, mono or sympodial- cultivated to some extent and used still the introduction of arabica (Narasimhaswamy and Vishveshwara 1963) - Shrub to 2-3 m tall, (briefly) deciduous; young stems greyish brown pubescent. Leaves subcoriaceous, broadly ovate or elliptic, base rounded or slightly cuneate, apex acuminate, pubescent on veins below; 3-5 pairs of lateral veins, on the lower surface with hairy domatia in the axils; petioles 3-5 (10) mm long, pubescent; Stipules 5-6 mm long, triangular-aristate, pubescent outside and with colleters within. The species’ distribution range is disputed. Records from Vietnam and Java may refer to cultivated material, or escapes from cultivation. The few known collections from N. and SW. Thailand are most probably from the wild. The plant is quite often cultivated in the Bangkok area. tips of anthers visible, didymous or sub-bilobate fruits- Self-compatible but occasional cross pollination possible for Psilanthus (Charrier & Berthaud, Coffee: botany and production of beans and beverage). Inflorescence terminal on stems (long shoots) or sometimes on axillary short shoots, 1-5-flowered; Flowers fragrant, 5-merous, produced before or with new leaves. Corolla white, finely pubescent on the outside, tube 17-22 mm long; Stamens sessile, inserted below the throat, anthers tips slightly exserted from throat. Drupe obovoid or ellipsoid, longer than broad (10-13 mm high, 5-8 mm wide), entire or didymous, crowned by persistent calyx. Uses: Cultivated for its fragrant flowers; propagated by seeds.
